The new Guinea company (Neuguinea Compagnie) was 1885 a created commercial company on new Guinea (emperor William country), the Bismarck archipelago and the Salomonen islands.
The new Guinea company had the purpose to advance colonizing and the areas placed acquired by Otto Finsch (1839-1917) under German protection. On the basis of an imperial charter of 17. May 1885 exercised the society the Regierungsgewalt over the area, until 1899 stepped the German Reich to its place. The German Reich had redeemed the sovereignty rights on 7 October 1898 by a contract with the new Guinea company.
The company was afterwards still further in business in the protected areas active. It undertook extensive attempts with the cultivation of tobacco, cotton and other tropical plants. The emphasis became later on the production of coconuts and other materials of the Kokospalmen.
In place of the former national captain stepped the imperial governor, who had its seat in harsh RTS height in the Bismarck archipelago.
